            TAMPA , FL – Heavy rain on Saturday morning washed what was to be two shows on Saturday for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series at East Bay Raceway Park .  Both the Saturday afternoon and Saturday night races have been cancelled and will not be made up.  Wet weather plagued the entire scheduled three-race series over the past three days.

               TAMPA, FL – Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, FL battled through lapped traffic to take the lead and win the 40-lap NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series main event Friday night at East Bay Raceway Park driving the Miller Lite Rocket.  Nosbisch took the lead from Doug Horton of Bruceton Mills, WV on lap 31, and held off a challenge from Horton with two laps to go to take the win.

               TAMPA , FL – A heavy afternoon rain shower postponed the 40-lap $2,500-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series race on Thursday night at East Bay Raceway Park .  The first event of the three-race series with 51 cars entered has been rescheduled for Friday night, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and racing scheduled for 7 p.m.

               COLUMBUS, MS – Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN won the 40-lap NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Winter Classic main event on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway driving the Miller Brothers Coal Warrior.  Johnson took the lead on lap two, covered the bottom groove, and went on for an emotional win, as he dedicated the victory to an injured crew member.

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Columbus Speedway officials have announced that the 40-lap $2,500-to-win 8th Annual Winter Classic Race has been rescheduled for this Saturday at the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval in Columbus, MS.  The race was originally scheduled for January 26, but was postponed by an ice storm.

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL has joined the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for 2008, and will also host a $5,000-to-win 75-lap NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on October 10-11.  Drivers in the Green Valley Speedway Crate Late Model Division will compete for both Track and Regional point funds.

               “Track owner Dennis Harker has made wholesale improvements to Green Valley Speedway, and we’re excited to have the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series involved with Green Valley Speedway,”  NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said.  “We’re also excited to have the opportunity to showcase our National Touring Series at Green Valley Speedway in October.”

               Under the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanction, drivers at Green Valley Speedway will be eligible not only to compete for a Track point fund, but also a Regional point fund using their 16 best finishes during the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season from March 28, 2008 through September 28, 2008.

               In addition, the top six drivers in the Green Valley Speedway Crate Late Model Division point standings, excluding any top six Regional point drivers, will be invited to the 3rd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Fall Nationals Invitational Race at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on November 28, 2008.  The Green Valley Speedway Track Champion will also be eligible to compete in the Race of Champions, and top six Regional point drivers will compete in the Race of Regions.

               The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will be a part of the David Haire Memorial Top Guns Tournament at Green Valley Speedway on October 10-11.  The late David Haire was a lone time fan at Green Valley Speedway who always parked in Trackside Parking place number one.

               Track owner Dennis Harker said he will be looking forward to seeing his friend and 2007 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Rookie of the Year Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA competing at Green Valley Speedway in 2008.

               “We’re looking forward to our involvement with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series, and the Weekly Racing Series, as Chip Brindle is a good friend of mine, and he has always been most positive about the series,” Harker said.  “I think the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will help our car count with its consistency in the rules which makes things easier for both the competitors and our officials.”

               The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and the Weekly Racing Series feature dirt late models powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engine that are built and sealed at the GM factory to prevent any expensive modifications, and are shipped and made available at GM dealers nationwide. 

               The 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine can be purchased for right at $5,000, and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine can be purchased for right at $3,000.  The GM Performance 602 Crate Engine also receives a 150-pound weight break and a one inch larger carburetor spacer over the 604 engine.

NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE PIKE COUNTY SPEEDWAY DATE CHANGE

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials have announced a date change for their 2008 National Touring schedule, as the $10,000-to-win 100-lap Cajun Spring Nationals has moved to April 25-26.  The date change was made in an effort of NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS sanctioned tracks working together.

               The original date conflicted with the 16th Annual James King Memorial Race at Columbus Speedway in Columbus , MS on April 11-12.  NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Founder and Director Mike Vaughn, Pike County Speedway Promoter J.F. Gasquet, and Columbus Speedway Promoter Johnny Stokes got together and worked out the date change for the Pike County Speedway event.

               “We encourage our promoters to work together in an effort to benefit their tracks and the series,” Vaughn said.  “We want to thank J.F. Gasquet at Pike County Speedway for going to extra mile in working with Johnny Stokes at Columbus Speedway in changing his date to not conflict with the James King Memorial Race at Columbus Speedway .”

               The Cajun Spring Nationals is currently Round 6 of the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring schedule.  The first event of the 2008 season was held on January 5 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga , AL where Royce Bray of Hull , GA was the winner of the Ice Bowl.

Round two will be held at Columbus Speedway on January 26 with the Annual 40-lap $2,500-to-win Winter Classic.  Rounds three through five will be at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa , FL with a pair of 40-lap $2,500-to-win races on February 21 and 22, and a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race on February 23.

               NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS officials are still working to complete the 2008 National Touring schedule, and will release it within the next few days

DOMINATOR NOSE PIECE APPROVED FOR NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS COMPETITION

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials have announced that the Dominator Nose Piece manufactured by Aerotech Styling of Lyons, OH has been approved for series competition in 2008.  Aerotech Styling will also be a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Contingency Sponsor in 2008.

               A driver at each NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event in 2008 will be awarded the Aerotech Styling Hard Luck Award, and will receive a $50.00 Product Certificate from Aerotech Styling.

At the end of the season, Aerotech Styling will award a Nose and Flare Kit to the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion, as well as the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional Champions.  Aerotech Styling will award $100.00 Product Certificates to the second through tenth place drivers in the National Touring point standings, and the second through sixth place drivers in Weekly Racing Series Region.

“We like the look of the Dominator Nose Piece and we’re happy to have Aerotech Styling as a Contingency Sponsor in 2008,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said.  “It’s only appropriate that Aerotech Styling offers the Hard Luck Award, as the chances are pretty good that the recipient will have been involved in an incident during the event, and will need a new nose piece.”
